The Answers You Need
What is a Celebrant
A celebrant is someone who conducts ceremonies such as weddings, funerals and naming ceremonies. They can actually conduct any kind of ceremony that they are comfortable delivering. These ceremonies can have some, little or no religious contents the choice is yours.
I was trained with the International College of Professional Celebrants and feel that this training has given me skills, confidence and professionalism to deliver all ceremonies to the highest quality whatever my customers requests.
Can a Celebrant legally marry us?
The quick answer is no....but the same as you would go the registrars and register the birth of a new baby and then have a christening, the same applies for a wedding. You can apply to your local authority registrar to complete the legal part of getting married and paperwork that has to be signed, this is following your 29 days notice of marriage which is always required. This is called a 2+2.
You could then book your wedding with me and I can make your wedding ceremony everything you want it to be. This could be from the very traditional exchange or rings and vows to adding extra pieces into the ceremony such as personal readings, poems, self written vows (which I can always help with). You can include family members, friends, or children into your day which is great for blended families. This gives flexibility for you to chose the day, time and the venue for you wedding.
Where can I have my ceremony?
You can have your ceremony wherever you like. This could be in a restaurant, your local pub, on a beach, in a field (as long as you have the landowners permission). If you are getting married, as long as you do your 2+2 (see FAQ above) it's the same. Your venue choice is endless.
